News: Broward Sheriff's Office Teams Up with Dolph Map

Broward Sheriff’s Office (BSO) and Dolph Map Company (Dolph) have teamed up to develop a comprehensive mapping program that will incorporate the most current GIS street maps featuring normalized data templates and symbology. This joint effort will be used to provide digital .pdf Map files for dispatch and mobile unit applications, and will evolve into a GIS based platform with enhanced functionality.

One advantage of using Dolph’s GIS mapping capabilities becomes evident in the actual positioning of points of interest. The location of each feature is verified using high resolution aerial photography, County Property Appraiser parcel data and on site inspection, verses Geo coded positioning which only approximates the location of the feature.

Additionally, using feedback from the end users, Dolph will maintain the data and provide map updates on demand along with their periodic update schedule.

Dolph Map specializes in custom printed and digital GIS map products, and has produced Emergency Response street atlases for several counties in the state. They are an affiliate member of the Florida Fire Chiefs Association and have recently been actively involved with the State Fire Marshall’s office and the Florida Department of Emergency Management in the deployment of the US National Grid for use in Urban Search and Rescue within the state of Florida
